#GivingTuesdayNow: Support Resiliency.

#GivingTuesdayNow is Tuesday May 5, 2020.

COVID-19 is making life even more complicated for people in abusive relationships or those struggling with substance use. But Women In Transition is here, doing what we’ve always done: helping people find safety.

Our clients are resilient and creative in fighting for their survival, and here at WIT we are finding creative ways to provide our life-saving services during this pandemic.

Brittany called us because she felt stuck. She had been hoping to get a Protection From Abuse Order (PFA) against her abuser, but she heard the PA Courts were closed. When her counselor explained the new process for obtaining a PFA during the shelter-in-place order, she breathed a sigh of relief. Then, they talked about ways to safety plan at home (see our blog post, Safety Planning & COVID-19). Brittany realized that she had a lot of her own ideas about how to increase her safety.

Survivors are the experts in their own lives. Our services empower clients like Brittany to trust their instincts when it comes to their safety.
