Empowering Women Since 1971
Women In Transition (WIT) provides empowerment counseling, referrals and advocacy to women in Philadelphia who are endangered by domestic violence and/or substance abuse.

Our programs help women make positive changes in their lives, actualize their potential, and build lives for themselves and their children that are free of violence and free from addictions to drugs and alcohol.

WIT also provides trainings, workshops, and systems advocacy in the community in an effort to build a society that will no longer tolerate violence against women and children.

How We Can Help

Centrally located in Center City, Women In Transition is primarily an early intervention and prevention agency – helping women identify, early, the causes and prevalence of domestic or substance abuse in their lives and make long-lasting changes for themselves and their children. WIT provides Telephone Counseling; Intake Assessments and Referrals; Counseling and Advocacy services; Lifeline Peer Support Groups; and a comprehensive Community Education and Training program. In addition, WIT provides hotline counseling through our participation in the Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline Collaboration, a toll free, 24-hour bi-lingual service. All services are provided free, without regard to race; gender; age; marital, social or economic status; cultural or religious practices; sexual orientation; political beliefs; or physical abilities.
